For our 2012 series of events we will not be having predefined weight classes or age groupings for the youth and junior competitors. Our past events have shown us that predefined weight classes and age groupings are a limiting factor in getting athletes the best competition scenarios. Please know that there is much effort that goes in to getting the youth bracket “just right”. We want the very best experience for your children.
The brackets will be finalized and posted when competitors check in, the same as a previous events. We will continue to assemble brackets using similar thresholds (for example 10 pounds depending on age) as we have in the past. We know that this change will prove to be a benefit to the athletes and if there are any questions you are welcome to contact us by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our policy on refunds is as follows…
If you request one prior to registration closing you will be refunded your registration, minus a $3 fee (this is Paypal’s fee, not ours). We do not accept any changes including refunds after registration closes.
Refund requests must be done by email email@example.com
The only exception to that rule is if we can not provide you (or your child) with a match. If there is no match for you (or your child) in your division we will gladly refund your registration fee 100% (we will pay the $3 for you since we are not able to provide you or your child a match.)

The youth and juniors will be run separately from the adults. The youngest white belts will go first starting after the rules meeting. We will then progress through the youth to the juniors.
After all the gi brackets are completed and awarded the no gi will start with the youngest beginners and then progress through the youth and juniors by escalating age and skill.
Medals will be awarded as soon as possible when the bracket is completed.
You will weigh in directly before your bracket starts.
Gi competitors will weigh in with the gi and belt they are going to compete in.
No gi competitors will weigh in dressed to compete, (not underwear).
Yes you will. If you choose to compete gi and no gi think of it as 2 tournaments in 1 day. You will have to make the gi weight with the gi before you compete gi and the no gi weight without the gi before you compete no gi.
No. All brackets are completed and posted when you come in to the facility that day. If an athlete is overweight they will be disqualified from their bracket.
No you cannot be refunded for being overweight.
If you weigh in under the weight class that you signed up to compete in you are still welcome to compete in the weight class that you signed up for. You will never be disqualified for being under weight.
You can not be moved into a lower weight class.
ADULTS are going to have rolling bracket call times.
The Black, Brown, and Purple Belts will have a call time of 9:30. The black, brown, and purple belts will be called to the scale, athletes will make weight and then go to the mat they will compete on. Blue belts will have a call time of 11:00. Not all blue belt brackets will be called at 11am but the estimated start time of the first blue belt matches will be 11:10. The first blue belt bracket will get called to the scale at 11am for weight and staging. White belt call time will be 12:30. The Elite and Advanced competitors can anticipate a 2:00 first call, then Intermediate, then Beginners.
The brackets are finalized and posted before the doors open the day of the event. There can be no changes or additions to the brackets.
The brackets are posted by belt/experience lowest weight to highest weight. Some divisions are so large that there will be A & B brackets.
If when checking in you were on our list, you are on a bracket. If you can not find yourself do not panic. Find a Liberty Events staff member that can help you find Gina or Jeff & they will help you.
We make every effort, but there are times that we simply do not have a match for you or your child. If that is the case, you will be notified prior to the day of the event & fully refunded.
